Museum Quality Canvas Wraps

Our canvas is certified ‘Archival Quality’ by the ‘Fine Art Trade Guild’. It is superior in its exceptional colour reproduction. It does not contain whitening agents like cheaper canvases, so the image remains consistent over time. Canvases with whitening agents will eventually discolour.

Varnish

Two coats of Museum Grade Giclee Matt Veneer are applied. This soaks into the canvas so is un-noticeable but provides protection from scuffs and moisture. You are then able to wipe the canvas with a slightly damp cloth if required. The veneer also prevents the print from cracking.

Frames (Stretcher Bars)

Our stretcher bars are made of solid pine from sustainable forests. Cheap canvas suppliers usually use very lightweight fir-wood bars that are not built to last. Our bars are still light enough for canvases to hang easily on standard picture hooks but have a much more solid and robust feel.

The 450gsm canvas meets the archival standards set forth by the 'Fine Art Trade Guild'.

Our stretcher bars are finger jointed solid pine, specially manufactured for us from managed UK forests. All frames with one length over 30" have brace bars inserted.

Framing tape and felt bumpers are added for a quality finish. Wooden wedges are inserted so the canvas can be re-tensioned in the future if necessary.

In short, you will receive ‘an archival quality, fine art canvas that has been produced with care using premium grade materials’.  Cheaper supermarket canvases are likely to discolour and crack over time. With care, our Canvases will last a lifetime.

*The word ‘giclée,’ as a fine art term, has come to be associated with prints using fade-resistant ‘archival’ inks.
